The Farm That Built a Family

For nearly 60 years, the Miller family woke up before sunrise to work the same stretch of Wisconsin farmland.

The farm wasn’t just a business.

It was their history.

Grandfather Miller bought the land shortly after returning home from military service. His children grew up helping with chores before school, and later their children did the same.

Every season brought new challenges, but the family always found a way through.

Until now.

Over the past few years, everything seemed to get more expensive.

Fuel prices climbed.

Equipment repairs became harder to afford.

Feed costs increased.

Property taxes rose.

At the same time, grocery stores began filling shelves with cheaper imported products from overseas.

The Millers watched as consumers unknowingly purchased food grown thousands of miles away while local farmers struggled to stay afloat.

Then another problem appeared.

Developers began buying farmland surrounding their community.

Fields that once grew corn and soybeans were suddenly marked for warehouses, industrial parks, highways, and new housing developments.

One by one, neighboring farms disappeared.

The Miller family started asking a painful question they never thought they would have to consider:

Would their farm be next?

What happened months later left the entire community stunned.
