The House Nobody Wanted
When my wife and I bought the old Victorian house in rural Pennsylvania, everyone thought we were making a mistake.
The property had been empty for years.
The roof leaked.
The floors creaked.
And half the town seemed convinced the place was cursed.
That’s probably why we got it for such a low price.
We thought we had found a bargain.
We had no idea what was waiting inside.
Renovations Begin
For the first few weeks, everything was normal.
Dust.
Broken pipes.
Peeling wallpaper.
Nothing unusual.
Then one afternoon, while removing old shelves from an upstairs bedroom, I noticed something strange.
The wall behind them sounded hollow.
Very hollow.
Something Didn’t Add Up
I checked the original floor plans of the house.
According to the blueprint, the bedroom should have been much larger.
At least six feet larger.
But there was no door.
No window.
No visible entrance.
It was as if part of the room had simply vanished.
Breaking Through
Curiosity got the better of me.
I carefully removed a section of the drywall.
Behind it was an old wooden door.
A real door.
Covered in dust.
Completely hidden.
My heart started racing.
Who hides an entire room?
And why?
The Secret Room
The door was locked.
But the wood was so old it barely held together.
After a few minutes, it opened.
A cold smell rushed out.
The air felt untouched.
Like nobody had entered for decades.
I turned on my flashlight.
And froze.
What Was Inside
The room was filled with boxes.
Photographs.
Letters.
Newspapers.
A rocking chair.
And dozens of family portraits hanging on the walls.
The strangest part?
Every photograph stopped around 1924.
Nothing newer.
Nothing older.
Just 1924.
Over and over again.
A Name Appeared Everywhere
One name kept appearing in the letters.
Eleanor Whitmore.
I had never heard the name before.
But she seemed connected to everything.
Every photo.
Every diary.
Every document.
It was as if the room had been built around her memory.
Then I found a final letter.
Still sealed.
Addressed to:
“Whoever finds this room.”
END OF PART 1…
